Jacksonville Alumni Chapter members support honorees at 2014 Mayor’s Trailblazer Awards in Jacksonville, FL

Jacksonville (FL) Mayor Alvin Brown, a 1982 Delta Psi initiate, honored 14 community leaders who were the first African Americans in the city of Jacksonville to enact changes in the fields of business, education and public policy with the Mayor’s Trailblazer Award on Thursday, February 27, 2014.


The ceremony took place at the City Council Chambers in downtown Jacksonville, FL and Willie E. Gary, Esq. served as the keynote speaker. Honoree & Jacksonville Alumni Chapter member Reginald Luster, Esq. [Theta Eta/1984] was the First African-American President of the Jacksonville Bar Association. Honoree & Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Silhouette Dr. Barbara A. Darby [wife of John b. Darby, Jr., Delta Psi /1972] was the First African-American Female Campus President at Florida State College of Jacksonville – North Campus. Brothers and Silhouettes came out to show their support of this monumental achievement for the honorees. A reception immediately followed.
