The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation Jacksonville Public Meeting & Scholarship Presentation Ceremony provides an opportunity to reflect and say “thank you” to individuals and organizations that improve the quality of life through community development for those who live in the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
Whether empowering dreams through entrepreneurial development, philanthropic service, legal assistance, mentorship, medicine or neighborhood revitalization, the capacity-building efforts of our honorees are among the best of that can-do spirit that underlies achievement in every field of human endeavor.
Since the Chapter’s chartering in 1925, our membership has recognized that the next generation is our future, but without strong examples to inspire and mentors to suggest a positive direction, the path of life can be more difficult to navigate. Our honorees represent that inspiration.
Students who receive scholarships during the Meeting are able to visualize that value of giving back to the community and what their lives can be if they persevere, graduate from college, and pursue industrious callings, by viewing snapshots of the lives of our honorees.
Finally, in partnership with our Foundation, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter hosts an annual golf tournament whose purpose is to raise funds for scholarships and mentorship programs. The Chapter does this in coordination with the William and Betty Cody Foundation and the Curtis W. Paris, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The Public Meeting is about recognizing the “best of us” to inspire the “best in us.”
